POP CULTURE
Elective
Pop Culture is a self-designed elective course offered at TJHS. I planned and designed the entirety of the course, including all curriculum maps/planning, presentations, and activities.
This class gives students an opportunity to dive deeper into a variety of Pop Culture influences that have helped shape the American identity.
Throughout the trimester, students learn and discuss Popular Culture and trends of chronological decades in the United States that help make up our unique American culture. Each unit includes a brief overview of the significant historical developments of the time period. We then explore the Pop Culture developments that coincided or stemmed from the historical events, including family culture, entertainment, important inventions or technology, music, film/television, celebrity, etc.
